Evaluation of DNA Damage in Traffic Cops Exposed to Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon Pollution in Baghdad City Streets and its Association to Certain Biomarkers

نویسندگان

چکیده

Objectives: To find out the extent to which genetic material of Baghdad traffic policemen is affected by oxidative damage caused pollutants monitoring levels 8-OHdG compared antioxidant enzymes and malondialdehyde.
Methods: This study includes 140 participants; they have been divided into two groups (traffic police office police). Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons were analyzed for each participant GC/FID while measured ELISA technique.
Results: The polycyclic hydrocarbons, 8-Oxo-dG, malondialdehyde elevated in blood police, higher (Catalase glutathione peroxidase) observed police.
Conclusion: Exposure hydrocarbones can cause stress through their metabolic derivatives resulting active molecules, lead formation 8-Oxo-dG reduction enzymatic antioxidants, may emergence cancers.

Diversity of ndo genes in mangrove sediments exposed to different sources of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon pollution.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) pollutants originating from oil spills and wood and fuel combustion are pollutants which are among the major threats to mangrove ecosystems. In this study, the composition and relative abundance in the sediment bacterial communities of naphthalene dioxygenase (ndo) genes which are important for bacterial adaptation to environmental PAH contamination were in...

Association of Exposure to Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons with Inflammation, Oxidative DNA Damage and Renal-pulmonary Dysfunctions in Barbecue Makers in Southern Nigeria

Background: Multiple organ dysfunctions have been linked to exposure to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) and oxidative stress (OS), oxidative DNA damage, and inflammatory response to PAH have been implicated. The biomarkers of OS (malondialdehyde (MDA), total plasma peroxide (TPP), total antioxidant capacity (TAC), glutathione (GSH), nitric oxide (NO), oxidative stress index (OSI)); 8-hy...

The relationship between biomarkers of oxidative DNA damage, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon DNA adducts, antioxidant status and genetic susceptibility following exposure to environmental air pollution in humans.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) appear to be significant contributors to the genotoxicity and carcinogenicity of air pollution present in the urban environment for humans. Populations exposed to environmental air pollution show increased levels of PAH DNA adducts and it has been postulated that another contributing cause of carcinogenicity by environmental air pollution may be the produ...
